Filmmaker
Gita Hudson has been making short documentaries since 2005; as an arts documentarist, she regards film-making as an extension of fine arts, which is also their subject matter.
Since 2005, she has documented over 25 contemporary artists, including Yusuf Arakkal, Alphonso Doss, C.Douglas, Achuthan Kudallur and many Masters of the
'Madras Art Movement’. Moreover, she has documented various folk forms across India through her travels and curation at DakshinaChitra Heritage Museum.
Her films have been screened at prestigious venues such as the Gandhi Centre in Washington DC, DIAF in Delhi, Nehru Centre and Noble Sage Gallery in London, the British Council, Alliance Françoise in Chennai, Bharath Bhavan in Bhopal, Bharat Nivas in Auroville, JDCA in Orissa, Lalit Kala Akademi in Delhi, Auroville, and fine arts colleges throughout India, as well as at film festivals around the world.
